Collection of Censuses of the Israelites


The following is a collection of censuses created by the Israelite people.

I) First Wilderness Census (1445 BC)
II) Second Wilderness Census (1407 BC)
III) Census Under King David (Circa 979 BC)
IV) Census of Foreign Residents (Circa 966 BC)

Census 1
Titled: First Wilderness Census
Dated: 1445 BC
Those counted: Men, over twenty who are able to serve in the army.
Those was excluded: Women, men under 20, those of the tribe of Levi and men not able to fight.

Titled: Second Wilderness Census

The Levities were counted separately; there were  23,000 male Levites who were older than a month old. 

Census 3
Titled: Census Under King David
Dated: Circa 979 BC
Those counted: Men who could serve in the army.
Those was excluded: Women, men who couldn't serve and anyone from the tribes of Levi and Benjamin.

Warriors in Israel: 1,100,000
Warriors in Judah: 470,000

Census 4

Titled: Census of the Foreigners 
Dated: 966 BC
Those counted: Foreigners residing in Israel
Those excluded: Those of Israelite descent

Number of foreigners: 153,600

King Solomon used the foreigners to help build the Temple:
70,000 of them were carries who carried cedar wood from Jaffa by the Mediterranean Sea to Jerusalem.
80,000 were stone cutters in the hills. 


3,600 men (not necessarily foreigners) worked as foremen to keep the men working.
